Jane Marilyn Stevenson

Jane Marilyn Stevenson, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Winslow, Arizona on March 25, 1930 to Harry C. and Alma Helen Kabelin. She grew up in Winslow and was valedictorian of her 8th grade class. In 1948 she graduated from Winslow High School where she was Vice-President of her Senior Class. She attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in San Francisco, California from 1948 to 1951, to become a registered nurse and later worked as a registered nurse for 10 years. She married William Henry Stevenson in 1953 in Palo Alto, California. They later settled in Woodland Hills, California and then Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where she raised her two daughters, Suzanne and Carolyn. She remained in Rancho Palos Verdes, until her divorce in 1987 from William Stevenson, and then moved to San Pedro, California. She moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1996 to be closer to her daughter, Carolyn Burgan and son-in-law, John Burgan.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Cross and her husband Daniel of Washington D.C.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan, her brothers, Robert and Harry and her daughter, Carolyn in June 2008, and her ex-husband William in 2005.
