James Arthur Schulz, age 73, of Grants Pass, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship, 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass with Pastor Mark Skudstad officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
James was born March 23, 1938 in Long Island, New York to James & Muriel (Dennis) Schulz. He grew up all over the United States and settled with his family in Crockett, California in 1952. In 1955 after graduating from John Swett High School he joined the United States Navy, served on a submarine for three years, and was honorably discharged in 1960. He then attended Dental School for two years before going to work for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department in 1962. In 1978 he married Judy Linneberger. After his retirement in 1982 they moved from Napa California to Grants Pass where he operated Video Iterate Productions beginning in 1987 until 2003.
James attended Applegate Christian Fellowship and later attended Edgewater Christian Fellowship.
His hobbies included building boats, furniture making, skiing, ocean sailing, scuba diving, RVing, playing chess, traveling with his wife and family members.
In addition to his wife, Judy Schulz of Grants Pass Oregon; he is survived by a son, James R. Schulz of Bluffton, South Carolina and three daughters, Judy Wilson of Fairfield, California, Jodi Schulz of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jena Pipher of Fort Collins, Colorado, three sisters, Frances Contestable Lewis of Vacaville, California, Patti Reasley of Mexico, Sue Ann Sarno of Vacaville, California, and two brothers, John Sarno of Folsom, California, Joe Sarno of Vacaville, California and eight beautiful grandchildren.
