James “Kimo” Bass, age 76, of Rogue River, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at his home.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances may be made to Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, 121 S Saint Asaph Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. This is an educational scholarship with particular attention to children whose parent has been killed or wounded in action.
He was born April 14, 1933 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Robert & Byrel Bass. The son of a career Air Force serviceman, his family moved all over during his entire childhood. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in California. At age 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps and served as an infantryman during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He worked as a sports car mechanic for Porsche of America and managed the shop at Chick Iverson’s Porsche Sales in Newport Beach, California. He moved from Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii to Rogue River ten years ago.
He was a longtime Harley Davidson Motorcycle rider and enthusiast.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Werner and a son, Jeff Bass both of Hawaii; and two brothers, Robert C. Bass of Monmouth, Oregon and Thomas L. Bass of San Diego, California.
