James “Jaime” Owen Murrell Jr., age 62, of Williams, died Monday, April 25, 2011 of a heart attack at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
Jaime was born September 10, 1948 in Guam. He was the only child of James Owen and Arden Lee (Huston) Murrell. The family moved to the San Francisco Bay area after their tours of duty with the United States Navy. Jaime enjoyed growing up and going to school in the Bay area. After high school he also served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1967 serving in the Seabees. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972.
He then attended the College of Marin majoring in mathematics where he met his future wife, India. Jaime and his father moved to Oregon in 1977 where they built the home in Williams where the family still lives. Jaime and India (Eschen) were married for over 30 years. Jaime will forever be remembered as a devoted husband and father. They have one son, Jason. Jaime was a welder by trade and builder and caregiver.
Jaime touched the lives of everyone that met him. He will be remembered for his friendly smile and generosity and his sense of humor and a great cook (peanut brittle). He enjoyed motorcycles, gardening talk radio and loved to read.
He is survived by his wife India and their son, Jason Murrell of Grants Pass and a granddaughter.
Contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Southern Oregon Humane Society, for his love of animals.
A private memorial was held April 27, 2011 in his honor. Interment will be decided at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
