James Davis Ferguson, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held in October. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

James was born December 19, 1931 in Galesburg, Illinois. He graduated from Gardena High School and attended two years of college. On September 28, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada he married his wife, Donna. During his working years, he was a Black Jack dealer at Seven Feathers Casino and owned several businesses including the Sweet Breeze Inn in both Grants Pass and Winston and Mr. J’s Family Restaurant. In 1969 he moved from El Segundo, California to Crescent City, California and in 1980 he moved to Grants Pass.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Elks Club both in Crescent City.
He helped his children’s school purchase sports equipment.
His hobbies included hiking, reading Wild West stories and researching old ghost towns.
Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Ferguson of Grants Pass; three children, Loraine M. O’Dell, Keith James Ferguson and Ryan A. Ferguson; a brother, Jerry Davis; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Joe K. Ferguson and John Ferguson.
