James A. “Jimi” Kay, age 70, of Cave Junction, died Friday, September 30, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Jimi was born October 31, 1940 in Oakland, California to Albert James & Frankie Kay. He attended Fremont High School and then completed his electrical apprenticeship. For two years he served in the United States Army. In 1978 in Berkeley, California he married Marcia Bramkamp. They moved to Enterprise, Oregon in 1979. In 1999 they moved to Grants Pass where they lived until 2003 when they moved to Cave Junction. He worked as an electrician for 37 years until retiring 14 years ago.
Jimi enjoyed collecting antiques and cars and restoring Victorian houses while living in Wallowa County. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Marcia Kay of Cave Junction, Oregon; he is survived by three daughters, Arlene Carron of Denton, Texas, Jillian Zavala of Pinole, California, and Carol Gagnon of Sacramento, California; a brother, Robert Kay; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Kay.
