Jackie Meyer, age 84, a long-time resident of Grants Pass, Oregon died Wednesday the 18th of July at SunRiver Assisted Living Residence in St. George, Utah.
She was born March 27, 1934 in Huntington Park, California to John L & Mary L Sullivan. Jackie graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1952.
Jackie worked at Roy Weatherby Rifles in South Gate, California in the 1950’s where she met and married the love of her life, Fred E Meyer. Jackie, Fred and their only child Jeff, moved to Grants Pass in 1970. They loved their home on the Rogue River and participated in the many recreational activities in the Grants Pass area.
Jackie’s career was with the Josephine County School District as a payroll clerk. She enjoyed the friends and associates she worked with at the school district and retained their friendship for many years after retirement.
Jackie and Fred’s home was the gathering place for good food, vacations, holidays and other special occasions. She loved life and had a wonderful smile that would light up a room.
Jackie was predeceased in death by her husband Fred and their son Jeff. She is survived by her brother John L Sullivan (Rebecca), sister-in-law Virginia Shellberg (Dar) and many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy in life.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hull & Hull Funeral Home, 612 NW A Street, Grants Pass, on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at: act.alz.org/donate.
