Jack W. Diltz

Jack W. Diltz, age 84, of Rogue River, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Jack was born February 18, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Charles & Elva Diltz. In 1942 at age 17, he joined the United States Marines Corps and served for seven years. On November 5, 1950 in Burbank, California he married Barbara Stroup. After completing his diploma and receiving his military discharge he went to work for Anheuser Busch for 15 years. In the mid 1970s he completed studies at Oregon Health Science University to become a hearing aid specialist. Upon his retirement in 1980 he moved from Newhall, California to Rogue River. He later owned and operated Beacon Burger restaurant in Crescent City, California for 1 years.

Jack proudly observed sobriety for the past 14 years.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years.

His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping, working on automobile motors, and reading.

In addition to his wife, Barbara Diltz of Rogue River; he is survived by a daughter, Gloria Lucas of Grants Pass; two sons, George Diltz of Reno, Nevada and Matthew Diltz of Klickitat, Washington; three brothers, Douglas Diltz of North Hollywood, California, Dennis Diltz of Burbank, California, and Gary Diltz of Panorama City, California; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jacob and Jonathon Diltz both in 1982.
