Jack L. Sauer, age 87, of Kerby, Oregon passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23rd, 2016. He left this world doing the two things he enjoyed most: riding his horse and deer hunting on his property that he loved so much.
Jack was born October 1, 1929 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Clem & Evelyn Sauer. Jack was the third generation of the Sauer family that settled in Kerby at Sauer’s Flat. In 1960 he married Josephine “Jo” Wooddy and they were just one week away from their 56th wedding anniversary. Jack lived his whole life in Kerby; logging, running the family ranch and spent some time working for the Forest Service. He knew the Illinois Valley like the back of his hand, and could sit down with anyone and share a good story.
Jack has left behind his wife, Josephine Sauer; two sons, Nick and Gary Sauer; and now gets to join his late son, Brad Sauer, who passed away in 1995. He also leaves behind a brother, Larry; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many, many friends.
Jack was a good ol’ country boy. Loved by all and a friend to all.
A celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Illinois Valley High School gym with Pastor Monty Pope officiating. Please join the family for a potluck immediately following the service and bring your favorite dish.
