Jack Clarkson, age 96, of Wilderville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
Services will be held at the Wilderville Cemetery tentatively Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Jack was born October 12, 1916 in San Diego, California. In November 1941 Jack enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country all over the world during World War II until he was honorably discharged the 19th of July 1945. Jack then enlisted in the Navy Reserves where he worked in the Navy supply center as a truck driver. Jack moved to Escondido, California in 1958 while he continued in the reserves until he was honorably discharged the 25th of April 1962. Jack continued to work for the U.S. government until he retired and moved to Wilderville in 1979 and that has been his home ever since. He started a landscaping business where he maintained some businesses and homes in the Grants Pass area. Known for being a generous man, Jack handed that landscape business over to a worker and walked away. From there, he did odds and ends jobs helping out whoever needed it. In the 1980's you could find Jack and his trusty sidekick and longtime companion Amy Govreau on Friday and Saturday nights over at Herbs dancing the night away until 2008 when his health no longer allowed him to go. He was a positive man that lived life to the fullest from road trips to Reno to driving across to the Oregon coast to have fish and chips for lunch. A lover of the great state of Oregon he could never got enough of God's Country.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Amy Govreau; three daughters, Jackie, Carleen, and Jennifer; grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, Amber, Alyssa, Nicholas, Trace, Stefanie, Darrel, Haven, and Amelia; and great-grandchildren, Monica, Trevor, Jack, Mackenzie, Layla, and Eldon.
