Ida Lee Stiff, age 72, passed into the presence of the Lord on July 2, 2013. She died in her home in Grants Pass, Oregon three and half months after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She was surrounded by loving family until the end. Ida was a generous and compassionate Christian woman who dedicated her life to serve and care for others.
Ida was born on February 22, 1941 in Stockton, California and moved to Chico, California in 1952. In 1958 she graduated from Chico High School and lived in the Chico area for over 50 years. She enjoyed working for Mervyn’s Department Store and most recently for Hallmark Cards.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Stiff; daughters, Laura McLaughlin and Sally Layton; a son, Kyle Stiff and daughter-in-law Nell Stiff; granddaughters, Maddie Roach, Mikayla Stiff and Elena Stiff; her mother, Ida Divine; brother and sister-in-law, James and Kay Divine; aunt, Beth Schmid; niece, Linda Geigle and their families. Ida will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.
A special gathering of friends and family will be held at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico on July 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Kyle and Nell Stiff’s overseas ministry at OC International, PO Box 36900, Colorado Springs, CO 80936. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
