Howard Wayne Quinton, age 76, of Grants Pass, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Monsignor Gregory Moys or St. Anne Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
He was born Howard Wayne Quinton on November 30, 1931 in Anchorage, Alaska to Charles and Bessie (Griffin) Quinton. He attended Merlin Elementary School and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1951. He also graduated from National Schools in Los Angeles, California. During the Korean War he joined the Navy and serviced on the USS Valley Forge. On January 16, 1955 in Boston, Mass., he married the former Betty Cline who preceded him in death after 49 years of marriage.
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.
He is survived by his wife Vickie Lynn (Nielsen) of Grants Pass; three children, Bob Quinton of John Day; Joanie Jensen of Grants Pass; and Denise Meyers of Troutdale; one brother, Griffin Quinton of Anchorage, Alaska; and five grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Harry Quinton.
