Hilda Mary Naylor, age 95, of Grants Pass, Oregon died Monday, November 7, 2011 at Spring Pointe Memory Care Facility in Grants Pass.
A private family service will be held in Radcliffe, Iowa at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Oregon Trail Chapter, 1311 NW 21st Avenue, Portland OR 97209.
Hilda was born December 6, 1915 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to John Adelbert Engel & Victoria Michel Engel. On September 29, 1937 she married Gilbert Earl Naylor and from this union six children were born. She lived most of her life in Regina and Swift Current, Saskatchewan until moving to Radcliffe, Iowa in 1960. In early 2000 she moved from Mesa, Arizona to Grants Pass.
Hilda was a member of the United Church of Canada and the Women’s Missionary Society. Upon moving to the United States, she transferred her membership to St. John’s Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as treasurer. She was also a member of Harmony Club; Radcliffe Senior Citizens; and Hardin County Area on Aging. She and her husband, Gil were charter members of Radcliffe Friendly Fairways Golf Club.
Hilda is survived by her loving children, Sandra Kemper of Grants Pass, Oregon, Dale (Beth) Naylor of Denver, Colorado and Mesa, Arizona, Clayton (Jackie) Naylor of Milan, Illinois, and Susan Naylor of Mesa, Arizona; her brother, Edward Engel of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Hilda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gil in 2005; her parents; two sisters; two brothers; and twin infant children, Jan and Gene.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Spring Pointe Memory Care for the loving home you provided for mom for the past nine years. Also thanks to Lovejoy Hospice for making moms transition an easy and caring time both for mom and the family.
