Helen E. Alexander, age 94, of Grants Pass, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at an adult foster home.
Private services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Helen Rose Ellis was born December 20, 1914 in Juneau, Wisconsin to Fay Nathan Ellis & Paula (Hinkes) Ellis. On August 19, 1939 in Juneau she married Leonard Clayton Alexander, who preceded her in death on March 28, 2003. She moved from Wisconsin to Grants Pass 20 years ago.
Helen was a dedicated mother to her four children. She was best known for her genuine caring, fun-loving attitude and her sense of humor, especially puns.
In her early years, she enjoyed volunteering at her church with bake sales, etc. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, spending time in nature, and nature hikes.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Vaughters of Wilderville; three sons, Thomas Alexander of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, James Alexander of Redgranite, Wisconsin, and Peter Alexander of Sunol, California; a sister, Rosemary Ripple of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, George Ellis of Eagle River, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
