Harry Mason Rhorer

Harry Mason Rhorer, 85, of Grants Pass died Saturday, July 29, 2006 after a long illness. A gathering will be scheduled at a later date. Southern Oregon Cremations are in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 21, 1921 in Bloomington Indiana and spent his youth growing up between Indiana and Florida. He attended the University of Oregon prior to being drafted into the army at the beginning of World War II. He served as First Sergeant for three years in Company D, 409th Infantry fighting in campaigns in Normandy, Tunisia, Sicily, Northern France and Germany, receiving a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

At the end of the War, he returned to the University of Oregon where he received his Masters Degree in Economics and studied for his Doctorate Degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He worked for many years in the Banking Industry, retiring from Wells Fargo Bank as Vice President of Marketing Research-Branch Locations and moving to Southern Oregon.

His hobbies were mineralogy, gardening, and family.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Lillie Rhorer, son Jeff Rhorer of Ashland, Oregon; daughters Pat Wolfard of Grants Pass, Oregon; Terry Hirsh, of Ashland, Oregon; and Janice Goebel of Cloverdale, California; nine grandchildren, Wendy Siporen, Jason Rhorer, Christine Robles, Camie Cope, Jordan Hirsh, Janice and Lillie Nicole Rhorer and Andrew and Michael Goebel. Eight Great Grandchildren, Alicia, Raquel, Mia and Brianna Robles, Wyatt Thompson-Siporen, Nick and Jenna Rhorer and Leo Cope.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved family.
