Harold William Kasper

Harold William Kasper, age 91, of Grants Pass, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011.

He was born September 24, 1919 in Lookout, California to Rebecca Mae Kasper & Eli William Kasper. He moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon as a young child with his family. He later became a Stone Mason and went into business with his father. On June 8, 1940 he married Carolyn Alice Joli who preceded him in death in 2005. Harold was a decorated World War II veteran serving in active duty in the Philippines. He continued to live in Klamath Falls after the war until 1947 when he moved his family to Eureka, California to participate in church work. He was employed by local mills there. In 1969 they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where he was employed by Cascade Block until retirement.

He was active in the Apostolic Faith Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Music Director, and Minister throughout his life until a stroke in 2006. He volunteered at rest homes and participated in other ministries. He enjoyed music, building, oil painting, rock collecting, gardening, and writing poetry and songs.

Survivors include four children, Arlene Bright and husband Bob of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Loretta Jordan and husband Don of Eureka, California, David Kasper and wife Kathy of Applegate, Oregon, and Debbie Burton and husband Jim of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Floyd Kasper of Medford, Oregon; nine grandsons; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; three brothers, Frankie, Clarence, and Paul; and two sisters, Alma Brown and Verna Mincks.

A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Andy Chasteen officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
