Former Grants Pass resident, Harold Douglas “Doug” Eriksen, age 68, of Medford, went home to be with the Lord and his personal Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, September 14th, 2015 after a year and half fight against brain cancer.
He was born October 6th, 1946 in Lebanon, Oregon to Harold F & Mildred Gunderman Eriksen. Doug retired from 33 years military service that was a combination of US Army, Army Reserves, and Oregon Army National Guard. In 1988, Doug went to work as a deputy for the Linn County Sheriff's Office. He retired from there in 2008. He met Cindy Ross Smith at a Black Powder shoot in 1999 and they were married in October of that year. For over 15 years they enjoyed a wonderful marriage as they continued black powder, genealogy, lots of travel, camping and grandkids.
Besides his wife, Cindy, Doug leaves behind 2 step children, Troy (Holly) and Chrystal; 8 grandchildren; 4 siblings, Becky (Jim), Steve, Maggie and John (Dorothy), and 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
A viewing will be from 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Rd, Eagle Point, Oregon. There will be a time after the service to gather at a local restaurant.
