Guy Crider’s story began March 12, 1954 and, at his unexpected passing, on September 2, 2022 it was an anthology of adventures filled with spontaneity, interesting people, a love of life and “going big” that made him the unique and beautiful person we all loved.
Guy grew up in Brooklyn, Iowa with his big and boisterous family. He was an intelligent student and active participant in high school activities leading him to go on to attend the University of Iowa. While in college, Guy discovered the path to his new adventure, developing a love for the beauty of Colorado.
During his time in Colorado, Guy became an active restraunteur and partnered with siblings Susan and Peter on different ventures. He also became a father to three children, Meg, Emilie, and Guy. Despite the responsibilities of his life, Guy never ceased to have big ideas and fun. Travelling as much as possible and branching out in business to help others experience the fun he found, like bungee jumping from a hot air balloon!
After many years in Colorado, Guy left the state for new adventures. Over the next few chapters of his life he lived in Costa Rica, among the wolves in the beauty of Sedona, Arizona, and after a brief return to Colorado to enjoy some time as “Bopah” to his young grandson, he eventually settled into a new life in Oregon.
In Oregon, Guy continued to love life and create positive impact on those around him and met his amazing partner, Sue. Sue and Guy built a life that they loved in the hills of Oregon where they spent as much time as possible with each other and their families. You never knew what adventure might be next when spending time with Guy. Anything from flying an airplane, singing in the California Redwoods, camping on the beach, deep sea fishing, or quiet moments skipping rocks on the river. The possibilities were endless. He was passionate, articulate, and charismatic; a born motivational leader. He had a big heart and never missed an opportunity to share how much he cared. His family has endless fun stories about their time with him.
Guy was inspired by Peace Pilgrim and her words, “Breathe in peace, breathe out love.” He wanted to see the world a better place and did what he could to help.
Guy is survived by his longtime loving partner, Sue Anderson, of Oregon; his sister, Susan Teuton and her husband, Don, of British Columbia; his brother Peter Crider and his longtime partner, Lou of New Mexico, his brother-in-law Tim Hutchinson, of California, his sister-in-law Vickie Crider, of Alabama; daughters Meg Boland (North Carolina) and Emilie Crider (Colorado), and son Guy Crider III (Oregon); two grandchildren, Patrick and Sky; six nieces, three nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Giles E. and Peggy Frank Crider; sisters Debra Crider and Mary Crider Hutchinson, and his brothers Christopher and Giles Crider.

I’ll be HOME SWEET HOME”
