Grace A Root

Grace A Root, age 97, of Grants Pass, died Monday, September 10, 2012 at an adult foster home.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Grace was born April 9, 1915 in Grampian, Pennsylvania. She moved to California in the 1930’s and worked as a legal secretary and later in retail management. In 1961 she married Robert Root and she became a stay at home mom. They moved from Santa Rosa, California to Selma in 1980 to raise beef cattle. From Selma they moved to Cave Junction in 1993 and in 1998 they settled in Grants Pass.

She was a member of Western Star Chapter #64 in Cave Junction.

Survivors include a son, Dan S. Newell of Hidden Valley Lake, California; a daughter, Zerelda Walton of Grants Pass; three stepsons, Ronald Root and Terrance Root, both of Tacoma, Washington and Rob Root of Clancy, Montana plus several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Robert L. Root preceded her in death on December 14, 2007.
