Gloria Ortloff-Lansford

Gloria Ortloff-Lansford, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Spring Pointe.

Family services will be held. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to any children’s center or food co-ops.

Gloria was born March 14, 1926 in Aurelia, Iowa to Oren & Lois Coombs. Her family lived on a farm, raised horses and had all sorts of farm animals that she and her two brothers and two sisters had to help with. Her father was a school bus driver and her mother a homemaker. Gloria lived on the farm until the start of her senior year in high school, when she moved to Wisconsin with her mother and sister. After high school she moved to California where she met her husband Victor. They were married 21 years and had three kids before they divorced. Gloria worked as a medical receptionist. Gloria moved with her second husband to Santa Maria, California where they owned and operated an office supply store. They later divorced. She lived on the Central Coast of California for almost 30 years. In 2009 she moved to Oregon and stayed with her daughter for five months before moving into senior apartments.

Gloria loved dancing at the Senior Hall in Santa Maria. In her senior housing in Oregon, she loved all the entertainment that came to play and would sing and move her body to the music. She made lots of new friends in Oregon.

Survivors include two children, Jane Hamusek and husband, Frank of Grants Pass, Oregon and Richard Ortloff and wife, Joann of San Diego, California; three half-brothers; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Vicki Davis; two sisters, Lois Gross and Jane Coombs; two brothers, Dan Coombs and Bob Coombs; and a great-grandson, Ryker Miller.
