Glenn Austin “Arkie” Blevins, age 70, of Glendale, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Umpqua Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Roseburg.
Family services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Glenn was born on August 20, 1943 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Dewey & Mildred Blevins. The family moved to Glendale, Oregon in 1950. He graduated Glendale High School in 1961 as Senior Class President. He excelled in football, basketball and baseball all four years. From 1961 to 1963 he attended Ball State and Southern Oregon University. From 1963 to 1965 he served in the United States Army and also served four years in the reserves. He worked in the communications field as an engineer for various companies overseas and in the United States until retiring in Glendale in 2008.
His hobbies included watching sports on television and spending time in the sun. He loved his dogs and cats and Glenn was generous to everyone.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Narie Blevins of Glendale, Oregon; two sisters, Donna Stewart of Grants Pass, Oregon and Dana Coate of Roseburg, Oregon; two brothers, Larry Blevins of Merlin, Oregon and Howard Blevins of Eureka, California and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Kennie Blevins.
