Glen Allen Lloyd passed away May 27, 2019 in American Fork, UT at the age of 88. Glen was born to Allen and Clara Lloyd on December 18, 1930 in Taft, California. Glen grew up in Taft and graduated from Taft Union High School. He attended the University of Utah where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served two years in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War before serving as a missionary in the Northwestern States mission in Oregon and Washington. He returned to Taft and joined his father in business. Glen married his sweetheart, Doloris Huerta, on July 3, 1959 in the St. George temple. He was active in church and youth activities and served as Bishop of the Taft Ward of the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Glen became president of Lloyd Drilling Company and co-owner of Holly Oil Company. He was elected to two terms on the Board of Directors of Taft Union High School. He was involved in real estate development and a founding director of Taft National Bank. He loved to ski, both snow and water, enjoying family trips to the mountains and lakes. He was also an avid pilot and enjoyed flying his twin engine airplane whenever he could. After retirement, he moved to Oregon, where he loved spending time with his family at his home in Cave Junction and at the cabin he built on the Illinois River.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doloris, his sister LaRae Hollingsworth, his children: Bryce (Mylene), Robin Decker (Drew), and Barry (Shawna), and 9 grandchildren: Derek, Ellie, Allen, Michael, Holly, Megan, Andrea, Catherine, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Clara and his eldest son, Mark.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 3, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors at 612 NW “A” Street in Grants Pass, Oregon. Viewing will be at 1:00 pm prior to the funeral at the same location. Interment will follow the funeral at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 945 NE Hillcrest Dr, Grants Pass, Oregon.
Remembrances may be made the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
