Gladys Arlene Votaw, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at her home.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Gladys was born June 28, 1927 in Coffee Creek, Montana. In 1945 she graduated from Stanford, Montana High School. She moved to Great Falls, Montana and met Edward Votaw whom she married in 1947 in Denver, Colorado. In 1956 the family moved to Santa Paula, California. Gladys assisted Ed in his business ventures from 1947 into the early 1960’s when she began working in the Accounting Department of the Ventura County California School District. Gladys transferred to the Santa Paula School District Accounting Department in 1966 and later ran the Department until her retirement in 1989. She and Ed moved to Grants Pass in 1990 where she lived until her passing. She raised one son, Rick and one step-son, Edward Jr.
She was a member of Camarillo Racquet Club and AARP.
Her hobbies included tennis, flower arranging, camping, being with her cats, watching wildlife and spending time with family.
Survivors include a son Rick Votaw of San Diego, California.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Edward Votaw; three sisters, Esther Bolter, Helen Layton and Lila Hilts; a step-son Edward Votaw Jr; and parents Edward Rieck and Magda Rieck.
