Gerald Marvin “Jerry” James, age 66, of Moore, Oklahoma died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at an Oklahoma City hospital with his wife and family at his side.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with The Reverend Stanley A. Brown officiating.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, Josephine County Chapter, 31 W 6th Street, Medford, Oregon 97501.
Jerry was born October 8, 1940 in North Platte, Nebraska to Floyd & Louise James. In August 1945 his family moved to Grants Pass where he attended Riverside Elementary School and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1958. When he was ten years old, he began tying fishing flies at Frank Jones Bait & Tackle on J Street and began his love of fly tying. On June 1, 1962 in the city of Rogue River he married Arlene White. From 1958 to 1965 he belonged to the Army National Guard (Company C 186th infantry 41st division). Jerry worked for Josephine County Roads and later for Oregon State Highway Department during the construction of I-5. Jerry and his wife recently moved to Moore, Oklahoma to be near their children.
Jerry was an ardent fishing enthusiast and collector of fishing memorabilia. He had a fly fishing museum at his home on Elk Lane.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Arlene James of Moore, Oklahoma; a son, Steve James of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Christina Hartman of Moore, Oklahoma; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Larry James and Dennis James both of Grants Pass.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and friends and leaves loads of good memories.
