George M. Cavyell, age 86, of Grants Pass, died Monday, April 21, 2008 surrounded by his family and friends at his home, just four days before his 87th birthday.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 5647 Cloverlawn Drive, Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
George was born April 25, 1921 in Wolf Point, Montana to Lamoine and Millie Cavyell. On August 26, 1947 in Coquille he married Mary Boyer. In 1950 they moved from North Bend to Grants Pass. He worked in the woods as a logger and later for Spalding & Sons until his retirement in 1973 due to a disability.
He was a member of the American Legion.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Cavyell of Grants Pass; a son, George M. Cavyell of North Pole, Alaska; two daughters, Cherial L. Calderwood of Grants Pass and Ann M. Candia of Bellingham, Washington; a sister, Minnett; three brothers, Harry, Frank and Lawrence; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two great-granddaughters; his parents; six brothers, Clarence, Melvin, Louis, Brad, Chuck; and one sister, Julia.
