George Kenneth “Ken” Brewer, 74, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Providence Medford Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Jesse Vandevender officiating. Interment will follow at Eagle Point National Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Military Honors. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
He was born October 21, 1931 in Hobart, Oklahoma and grew up in Selma, Oregon. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Navy. On August 10, 1960 at Stevenson, Washington he married Carolene J. Travis and they had three children. He worked for Pacific Power and Light for 33 years and retired as the Rogue Area Operations Manager in 1990. In 1985 he moved back to Grants Pass.
Ken was a member of the Grants Pass Iron Horse Riders motorcycle club; NRA; Josephine County Sportsman’s Association; and a past member of the Elks Club.
Ken’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, and woodworking.
In addition to Ken’s wife, Carolene J. Brewer of Grants Pass; he is survived by a son, Kenneth Brewer of Miami, Florida; a daughter, Michele Shafer of Grants Pass; his mother, Ruby J. Brewer of Grants Pass; two sisters, ShirlyMae Parker of Roseburg and Annabelle Heape of Cave Junction; three brothers, John Harold Brewer of North Bend, Earl C. Brewer of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ray H. Brewer of Cave Junction; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Brewer and his son, Darrell Brewer.
