George Jiri Satmar, 60, of Selma, Oregon, passed away on July 26, 2008 in Ohio while he was on the job with Marten Trucking Company.
Private services will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
George was born on June 30, 1948 in Zvolen, Czechoslovakia. He studied veterinary science. He came to the United States in 1976 and was a proud nationalized American citizen. He married his wife Sharon on August 30, 1979 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They lived in Tennessee, Colorado, California, and Washington before coming to Selma, Oregon in 1999. George was employed as a CATV Splicer in Telecommunications before becoming a truck driver for Marten Trucking. George was a proficient aviator and owned a Cessna 180 named Miss-Tress. He loved the USA and was dedicated to his wife and step-children. George generously gave a helping hand to many. He had a multitude of friends across the United States and Europe. He was loved and will be missed by many. His life attests to “live well, love much, and laugh often.”
George is survived by his wife, Sharon of Selma; step-children Michelle Walker of Arizona and Ryan Sorensen of Seattle, Washington, grandchildren Cody and Hannah of Arizona, and Jennifer of Seattle, Washington; his parents Olga and Titos Satmar; his brothers Peter and wife Eva, Milos and wife Eva; nieces Martina and Sandra Satmar; nephews Thomas and Roman Satmar; and a grand-nephew Sam Satmar all of Slovakia, Europe.
