George J. Eppelman, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home.
A viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Ron Marsh officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 9, 1924 in Los Angeles, California to George & Marie Eppelman. In June 1946 George met Barbara Capron at Pepperdine University and they married on June 19, 1948 in Inglewood, California. During World War II he served in the United States Army infantry. In 1950 he graduated from Pepperdine. He then taught school in Hawthorne, California for 29 years until his retirement. In 1981 he moved from LaMirada, California to Grants Pass.
He was a member of Parkway Christian Center. He volunteered with Home Bible Fellowship.
His hobbies included fishing, photography, camping, and spending time in the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Eppelman of Grants Pass; he is survived by a daughter, Laura Parker of Englewood, Colorado; a sister, Prudie Hay of Oceanside, California; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Hinkle in 1978.
