George A McKinzie, age71, of Rogue River, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

George was born on August 24, 1942 in Huntington Beach, California to George & Zadie McKinzie. He grew up and attended schools in Huntington Beach. When he was 17 years old he enlisted in the United States Navy and was based out of Long Beach, California. He was a Gunner’s Mate on cruisers in the Pacific and was honorably discharged on his 21st birthday. On February 4, 1967 in Westminster California he married Lynne Dehne. For 28 years he worked for the California Department of Transportation “Caltrans”, retiring in 1995. After retirement he worked for Hayfork Water Department. In 2004 he moved from Hayfork to Rogue River where he worked for Allied Water Services during fire seasons, retiring finally in 2008.
His hobbies included woodworking, snow and water skiing, bicycling and walking his dog. George was a snow bird and every year for eight years he lived in Yuma, Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Lynne McKinzie of Rogue River; children, Brian McKinzie of Pensacola, Florida and Alison Andrews of Rogue River, Oregon; a sister, Dorothy McAlexander of Lewisville, Texas; a brother, Wayne Gorsuch of Dunsmuir, California; and seven grandchildren.
