Gene Thomas Brunson
1942 – 2019
Grants Pass resident of thirty-eight years, Gene Brunson, 77, passed away on Monday, April 1st, 2019 at home in his work shop. He was born in March of 1942 in Pasadena, California. He joined the Army at seventeen and went to Germany. While he was in Europe, he drove his friends Austin Healey Sprite in numerous road races. When he came back to the States, he pursued his love of racing cars in Carson City, NV. He quickly became well known on the circle tracks.
Gene met his wife Carol, in Carson City, NV and they married in 1969. This July would have been their 50th Anniversary, an accomplishment he was very proud to share. He was a man of many talents, a welder and fabricator, inventor, entrepreneur, and an amazing artist. He had a great sense of humor and made friends easily.
Gene is survived by his wife, Carol; and daughter, Randi Ellis and her husband, Jeff of Chico, CA; and his three sons, Lorne Brunson and his wife, Amber of Fruitland, WA. Kaleb Brunson and his wife, Christalyn of Twin Falls, ID. Joshua Brunson and his wife, Rebekah of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother, Donn Brunson and his wife Barbara of Tacoma, WA; sister, Bonnie Lewis and her husband Jim of Michigamme, MI; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
But above all, Gene took great joy in serving Jehovah faithfully as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 45 years. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2412 Williams Highway in Grants Pass, OR on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. Everyone will be welcome.
