Gene M. Marah

Gene M. Marah, age 61, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at his home.

A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Deacon Bob Chapin officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Gene was born January 4, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Harry & May Marah. At age four, he moved with his family from Minnesota to Grants Pass. In 1968 he graduated from Grants Pass High School. In 1969 he joined the United States Army and served one tour in Vietnam and attained rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1971. On November 21, 1970 in Grants Pass he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Hightower. He worked at Southern Oregon Plywood and later Boise Cascade until he medically retired in 2002.

His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and watching all sports – especially football and NASCAR.

In addition to his wife, Barbara Marah of Grants Pass, Oregon; he is survived by a daughter, Ruby Emigh of Snohomish, Washington and a son, Danny Marah of Coos Bay, Oregon; a brother, Allen Marah of Grants Pass, Oregon; and three grandchildren.
