Garth Louis Hall

Garth Louis Hall of Grants Pass died July 2, 2012, from an accidental fall while fishing near Hellgate Canyon Viewpoint near Merlin. He was 17.

A public viewing is set for noon to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Hull and Hull Funeral Directors, 612 N.W. A St. A funeral service and time of sharing is set for 2 p.m. on the lawn at Morrison’s Rogue River Lodge, 8500 Galice Road. Bring chairs or blankets, sun umbrellas and drinking water. A procession is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. from the lodge to Hillcrest Memorial Park, 945 N.E. Hillcrest Drive, for a public burial at 5 p.m. A provided dinner will follow at 6 p.m. at the Union Drop-in Center, 225 N.E. Hillcrest Drive.

Garth was born Jan. 9, 1995, at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif. He and his family moved later that year to Roseburg and then, in 1999, to Grants Pass. He attended the Seventh Day Adventist School, Riverside Elementary School, North Middle School and Grants Pass High School, where he was about to start his senior year. He played youth league soccer, basketball, baseball and football, plus high school track and junior varsity football. He played trombone in band, and he lettered in GPHS marching band. He marched with the band in the 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Garth adored his nephew, Asher, 3, and his girlfriend, Sydney Rivas, and the San Diego Chargers. He also enjoyed working at his first and only real job at the Riverside Inn. He enjoyed humor, bantering and debating others. He also enjoyed music, fishing, longboarding and snowboarding. He was a former Cub Scout and longtime member of the Boys and Girls Club. He wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Seim-Hall, and her longtime friend, James Gibson; his father, Shaun Hall, and stepmother, Elizabeth Hall; and his sister, Emmy Hall, all of Grants Pass, plus step-sister Jessica Mason, step-brothers Nick and Spencer Mason and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
