Garry Charles Kausch, age 64, of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away on Thursday, Oct 15, 2015 under the care of Lovejoy Hospice after a long battle with ALS. Garry was born on March 11, 1951 in Appleton, WI to Louise and Garrison Kausch. Garry grew up in Appleton, WI attended Xavier High School and the UW-Milwaukee. He married Janis E. Driscoll on Oct. 4, 1975 and they moved to Tomahawk. Garry worked at Packaging Corporation of America as a power engineer for 38 years before retiring in 2012.
Garry was an avid fisherman and hunter, and although deer hunting was an annual tradition, duck hunting with his dogs was always his preference of all outdoor sports. His most joyful memories were hunting and fishing with his boys. Spending vacations elk hunting and ocean fishing in Oregon with his son, Jared, also became some of his most precious hunting memories. He was on the same men’s Thursday night pool league team for 38 years, shooting for Cedarwood, Country Inn and then Gators’s. He also shot league trap for the Harshaw Trap Club for many years. Garry coached the Nokomis boys little league teams for several years while his boys were on them. He was also trained as an EMT, and very much so enjoyed reading all books, although he tended to read more books of outdoor adventures and history. Garry helped start and was on the board of directors for the Justin C Kausch Memorial Scholarship at St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI in honor of his late son, Justin.
In 2014, after a couple years of being snow birds, Garry and his wife of 40 years, Janis, moved to Grants Pass, Oregon to be near their son Jared and enjoy the weather and beauty of the area.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin C. Kausch in 2002 and his father, Garrison T. Kausch, in 1975.
Survivors include his spouse, Janis E. Kausch and his son, Jared R. Kausch both of Grants Pass; his mother, Louise M. Klevenow and his brother, John V. Kausch, both of Tomahawk, WI.
He is further survived by extended family members and many, many friends.
