Garr Sterling McKechnie, born August 4, 1960 died peacefully at home on January 21, 2023. Garr was 62 years old and leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Lisa McKechnie, and their beautiful daughter, Jessica, both of whom he loved unconditionally.
Garr spent 4 years in the Navy serving his country with pride and dignity aboard the U.S.S. Barbey FF-1088, along with his fellow “Barbey Barbarians”. Disneyland featured heavily in Garr’s life. For 16 years he worked behind the scenes on all of the major productions as a stage technician. Garr left Disney due to a debilitating injury.
Baseball was Garr’s passion and nothing got him more excited then his beloved Anaheim Angels baseball team. Win or lose he was their number 1 fan. Lets not forget the LA Rams, footballs greatest team ever (according to Garr).
There wasn’t an animal alive that didn’t love Garr, from his aquarium fish and his chameleon lizard to his many dogs and cats. Special mention goes out to Leo, Garr’s favorite kitty! Leo followed Garr everywhere, from the kitchen to the bathroom too. Leo certainly had Garr well trained!
Godspeed Garr, you will be missed by your family and the many friends you made over the years. You were always the life of the party!
