Fredrick Lee Metz, age 76, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
No services are planned. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Fred was born December 26, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to Fredrick & Opal Metz. He was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He lived in Walla Walla, Washington before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1969. In 1977 he completed Dental Technician schooling. He was a gold miner, jewelry maker, woodcarver, and firewood cutter.
Fred was president of the Rogue Valley Range Riders.
His hobbies included collecting Native American artifact; hunting; camping; horses; trail riding; and collecting and shooting guns.
Survivors include three daughters, Cherie Hagley of Jantzen Beach, Oregon, Juanita Morgan of Jacksonville, Oregon and Veva Cribbins of LaQuinta,California; a son, Fredrick Metz of Sutherlin, Oregon; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Metz and a grandson, Richard Hagley.
