Frank Taus, age 74, of Grants Pass, Oregon died April 1, 2017 at Rogue Regional Medical Center from complications due to lifelong asthma.
Frank was born February 22, 1943 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Anton and Aletha (Moore) Taus. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1961. In 1972 he married Ann Floyd in Cottage Grove, Oregon. He was previously married to Sandra Haynes in 1961.
Frank was a graduate of Rogue Community College, the FBI National (Police) Academy and the Portland-Multnomah Police Academy.
He spent most of his career in law enforcement, including the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department, from where he retired.
He and Ann spent many enjoyable years traveling in their RV to Laughlin, NV and Yuma, AZ during the winter months. He especially enjoyed spending time with his dogs, working around his property, playing golf and going to the casinos with Ann.
Survivors include Wife, Ann of Grants Pass, OR; Daughter, LaWana Cooper and son-in-law, Scott Stroschein both of Grants Pass, OR; Sons, Howard Floyd of Veneta, OR and Ted Taus of Medford, OR; Grandchildren, Jason Prior of OKC, OK, Danielle Prior of Flint, MI, Bethany Cooper of Grants Pass, OR, Isaac Floyd of Grants Pass, OR, Tim Taus of Medford, OR, Tommy Taus of Medford, OR; Great Grandchildren, Kendal, Kaylee, Jacob and Ryann of OKC, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Lloyd Nelson and Tracy Nelson and his son, Tim Taus.
Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
A celebration of life is pending and will be announced in the Grants Pass Daily Courier.
