Francis Joseph Muhlnickel

Francis Joseph Muhlnickel, age 79, of Merlin died Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Grants Pass.

A viewing will be at 12 noon, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church.

A funeral mass will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Jose Campos officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

He was born October 11, 1933 in Lyons, New York and was raised in Cato, New York. After high school he married Joan Williams on December 8, 1951 in Cato. He and his brother owned a lumber business in Cato until moving to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1972. Since the early 1970s he owned and operated F. Muhlnickel Inc.

He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church since1972.

His hobbies included reading westerns, working, his dogs, and gold mining.

In addition to his wife, Joan Muhlnickel of Merlin, Oregon; he is survived by two daughters, Marcy Muhlnickel of Frisco, Texas and Stacy Muhlnickel of Reno, Nevada; six sons, Franz Muhlnickel of Merlin, Oregon, Steven Muhlnickel of Sunny Valley, Oregon, Michael Muhlnickel of Grants Pass, Oregon, Benjamin Muhlnickel of Selma, Oregon and Richard Muhlnickel and Eric Muhlnickel both of Merlin, Oregon; a sister, Hilda Mitchell of Rochester, New York; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
