Frances Roberta Young Watson, age 96, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at her home at Oak Lane.

Frances was born March 21, 1914 in Glen Elder, Kansas to Herman & Alice Gertrude Young. In 1932 she graduated from Glen Elder High School and attended business school for two years. She then worked in a real estate office in Beloit, Kansas for ten years. In 1944 she moved to Glendale, California and on December 22, 1945 in Glendale, she married Cecil Everett Watson and together they moved to Medford in 1945. In 1958 she started working at Harry & David and was employed there for 18 years until her retirement in 1976. At that time, she moved back to Beloit, Kansas for three years. In 1981 she returned to Oregon and lived in Cave Junction until moving to Grants Pass in 1998.
Frances was a member of Community Bible Church in Cave Junction where she volunteered with the youth group on Wednesday nights. She also volunteered with Community Christian Academy by washing dishes, gardening, and bookkeeping.
Her hobbies included memorizing and reciting poetry and reading, especially the Bible.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Watson Reynolds and her husband, Jim of Berkeley, California and Mary Orton of Cave Junction; a son-in-law, Kelsey Kirk of Carlsbad, California; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Watson on August 1, 1972; a daughter, Barbara Kirk on February 8, 2002 and a grandson, Michael Dempsey in 2009.
