Frances Mary Schmadeke

Frances Mary Schmadeke, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private services will be held at a later date. Private interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Frances Mary Bittner on May 26, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Clement and Gertrude (Preston) Bittner.

After raising her family in South San Francisco, Frances moved to Cave Junction eight years ago to live near her son. Five years ago she moved to Grants Pass and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Frances attended Bible study for over 30 years, and she dearly loved Jesus Christ. Frances is in heaven with Jesus and her family.

Her hobbies include spending time with her family; flower gardening; knitting; crocheting; and nature photography, especially flowers. She had a green thumb, was very social and enjoyed autumn.

Survivors include sons, Albert Jr of Texas, Peter and wife Cheryl of Cave Junction, Daniel and wife Sandy of Santa Cruz, California, and Philip and wife Marilyn of Walnut Creek, California; brother, David Bittner of Denver, Colorado; sister, Dorothy Jensen of South San Francisco, California; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, John Norman; and her young daughter, Anne Marie.
