Evelyn R. Bassett

Evelyn R. Bassett, age 91, of Rogue River, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Blue Mission Senior Care in Gold Hill.

Private interment is planned at Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, California. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn was born May 21, 1918 in Long Hill, Connecticut to Henry & Katherine Lange. In 1939 she graduated high school and four years later graduated from nurses training. On August 28, 1939 she married Joseph H. Bassett and they were married for 46 years. In 1948 she moved to California where she worked as a registered nurse at Monrovia Hospital in Monrovia, California for 25 years. She then worked at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, California for 15 years until her retirement in 1988. In 1997 she moved to Rogue River.

Evelyn enjoyed playing the organ and writing poems. She loved her cats, and especially her wonderful dog, Sandy.

Survivors include a son, Ed Bassett and daughter-in-law, Betty both of Rogue River.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, and a brother.
