Evelyn Petrea Carpenter

Evelyn Petrea Carpenter, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn was born March 6, 1918 in Beverly, Massachusetts to Christian Petersen & Lucy Beck Petersen.

She was a homemaker, loved making afghans for family and friends, working crossword puzzles, traveling and music. She loved to laugh.

Survivors include three daughters, Claudia Hess of Rogue River, Oregon, Barbara Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Christine Selvey of Cave Junction, Oregon; a son, Barry Carpenter of Encino, California; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. “As her generation passes on, the new are born.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Carpenter; a son, Dennis Carpenter; a grandson, Richard Hess; and a great-grandson, Richard Hess Jr.
