Evalynne Claire Marsh

Evalynne Claire Marsh passed away in her sleep Sunday night, June 28 2015. Eve is survived by her husband Bruce, children Katy, Melissa, Cory and Nolan, grandchildren Kolton and Kaleb, her mother, two sisters, and a huge adopted family of life-long friends and their children. She has been especially close to her beagle Shadow for the last six years

Eve’s caring nature was manifested in her occupation as a registered nurse. She worked at Rogue Valley Medical Center for 20 years, Siskiyou Community Health Center for four years and Signature Home Health for four years. She specialized in cardiac, oncology, and home health nursing

Originally from New Jersey, Eve came to Cave Junction in 1982 at the behest of her then boyfriend, Bruce Bockstiegel. They found a barn on a picturesque piece of property on the Illinois River in Takilma and set about rebuilding it into something livable. Hence forth known as “The Barn,” their welcoming home provided a vacation spot, second home, crisis counseling center, and even primary housing for friends in need. Supported by her husband’s great capacity to play host, Eve was den mother, who kept everyone fed with food and love, made everyone laugh with her great sense of humor, and had a gift for providing “safe passage” to those who suffered.

A “Celebration of Life” potluck will be held for Eve Saturday, 4 p.m., July 11 at The Barn.
