Eva Theresa Lawless, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Three Rivers Medical Center.
Private family services have been held. A memorial service is planned for Sept. 20. Details will be announced at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
One of 10 children, she was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Oakland, Calif., to Antonio and Mary Ornellas. She graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland. On July 23, 1943, in Reno, Nev., she married Everett Lawless, married 71 years this month. They lived in Oakland and Crescent City, Calif., before moving to Grants Pass in the 1950s. She was a homemaker and raised five children who all grew up knowing how much she loved each and every one of them.
She enjoyed hunting for agates at Pebble Beach when they lived in Crescent City, making greeting cards with rubber stamps, picking fruits and berries, making delicious jams and applesauce, getting vegetables from various family gardens and making zucchini bread, which she shared. She especially enjoyed being with her friends and family. Eva was an amazing woman, happy, fun loving, making all people around her feel loved and special, she was loved by all. In her later years, she traveled with her husband to Nevada and other places to visit casinos with family members. Eva spent her last years with her family, husband and their dog, Sonny, which she adored.
In addition to her husband, Everett Lawless of Grants Pass, survivors include a daughter, Theresa Budd of Grants Pass; four sons, Lloyd, Michael and Craig Lawless, all of Grants Pass, and Allen Lawless of Klamath Falls; 29 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Emily Garibalde, Cecilia Morris, Mamie Krogel, Hazel Cambra and Lorraine Azevedo, and four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Adam and Anthony Ornellas.
