Ethel E. "Shaye" Roach

Ethel E. “Shaye” Roach, age 73, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Bishop Ron Johnson officiating. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Shaye was born September 4, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hans & Ethel Mickelsen. She moved with her family to California when she was six years old. She married Gerald W. Roach, who preceded her in death. For many years she worked as a waitress in the restaurant industry. She moved to Merlin, Oregon from California in 1998. In 2003 she moved to Cave Junction, Oregon.

Shaye loved horses, art, and her Australian Shepherd. She was an exceptional painter.

Survivors include four sons, Randy Roach of Nevada, Timothy Roach, Robert Roach and Danny Roach all of California; her mother, Melody Mickelsen of Cave Junction, Oregon; a sister, Karen Riech of Tennessee; a brother, Dennis Mickelsen of Cave Junction, Oregon; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy.
