Elwood N. Chesser

Elwood N. “Woody” Chesser, 93, of Grants Pass, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at Spring Pointe.

Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 21, 1914 in Columbus, Ohio. On June 1, 1937 in Greenup, Kentucky he married Evelyn Rose Sines, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees and retired after 30 years of service as a chief electrician. In 1973 he moved from Arizona to Oregon.

He was a 32-degree Mason.

In his younger years he enjoyed breaking mustangs and raising purebred beagles. He was also a professional golfer.

Survivors include his sister, Vivian of South Carolina; and two brothers, Jack Chesser of Auburndale, Florida and Bill Chesser of Florida.
