Elmer Lee Matney, age 94, of Grants Pass, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Emeritus at the Springs.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Elmer was born March 31, 1920 in Truman, Arkansas to Liga Garnie & Susie Crunk. On July 30, 1938 in Truman she married Clay Matney and in 1939 moved to California. In 1963 she moved from Oroville, California to Rogue River where she owned and operated Jackie’s Caf for 10 years in the late 60s/early 70s. After selling the caf she worked for Tip Top Caf in Rogue River and cooked in both Grants Pass bowling alleys for many years into her 90s. In 1994 she moved to Grants Pass.
Elmer was a former member of Rogue River Assembly of God and currently attended River Valley Community Church.
Her hobbies included bowling, quilting, entertaining, cruises, and traveling to places such as Hawaii, Europe, and Panama.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Matney of Elko, Nevada, Lennis Matney of Rocklin, California and Dennis Matney of Eugene, Oregon; a sister, Betty Gilinsky of Medford, Oregon; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
