Former Grants Pass resident, Edith E. Baker Stover, age 89, of Medford, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Rogue Valley Manor.
A Celebration of Life will be at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel in Grants Pass, Oregon with Pastor Everett Denniston officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 at Manor Terrace Sunrise Room, 1250 Mira Mar, Medford, Oregon with Pastor Don Hildebrand officiating.
Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Edith Ethel Migliaccio April 6, 1922 in Price, Utah to Jack & Sylvia Migliaccio. Edith spent her early years in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In 1939 she married David Raymond Baker. They lived in Washington before moving to Martinez, California where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse certificate and worked as an LPN for many years. In 1952 she came to Medford and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital. While working she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, later earning her Masters. In Medford she taught at Jackson Elementary. Moving to Grants Pass in 1960, Edith continued to teach for twenty-five years at Wilderville, Murphy, Fort Vannoy, and Merlin Elementary Schools. In 1970, she married Merle E. Stover. She moved to the Rogue Valley Manor in 2003.
Edith was an ombudsman for seniors; volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship; and enjoyed singing with the Pacemakers. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Edith loved to travel (especially to Italy) and liked to keep in touch with former students and classmates. She instigated a Mills Elementary School class reunion, and started a tradition of donating different items to the school.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia McLoughlin and her husband John of Grants Pass, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Shawn McLoughlin, Kevin McLoughlin, Lorelei Dean, John McLoughlin, Jennifer Baker, Shiarra Baker, and Skyler Baker; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle E. Stover in 2001 and her son, David Baker Jr. in 1995.
