Eddie Ray Williams, age 75, of Murphy, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at his home.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Calvary Chapel of Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Eddie was born in Fort Worth, Texas November 5, 1936 to Mabel & Homer Williams. The family moved to Oregon in 1939, living in Klamath Falls before moving to Grants Pass. He attended Grants Pass High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 where he graduated at the top of his class and served as a combat air crewman. After being honorably discharged he returned to Grants Pass where he worked in the meat and custom butchering business until 1974. Eddie became a commercial pilot, a flight instructor, and a partner in Caveman Aviation where he was honored by the FAA with an Outstanding Flight Assist award for saving another pilot’s life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and reading but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Ivan.
He is survived by three children, Lisa Harris, Darin Schneider, and Rod Williams, all of Murphy; two sisters, Betty Mack of Nyssa, Oregon and Mary Sturgill of Grants Pass; two brothers, Roy Williams and Mack Williams, both of Grants Pass; three granddaughters, Leanna Cowger and Emily Kirkman of Grants Pass and Danielle Harris of Murphy, five grandsons, Samuel, Richard, Elijah, and Jonathan Harris of Murphy and Andrew Harris of Grants Pass; and one great-grandson.
