Duane was born at Pepprell Air Force Base in St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada to Ted and Elsie Hendricks on June 1, 1954. He attended elementary and Jr. High Schools in Pismo Beach, California and graduated from Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California in 1972. Duane served in the United States Air Force for seven years in Tucson, Arizona. He later worked at General Dynamics near San Diego, California. Duane met his future wife, Sandy, in Grants Pass and they were married August 7, 1999 by Chaplain Bell at White City. Duane, his father Ted and Brother Don were avid fishermen during his youth and spent many days fishing the streams and lakes of the High Sierra Mountains. Duane continued this passion as his health permitted with his brother Don and Will Abbott fishing locally after moving to Oregon. Duane also enjoyed sailing with his wife Sandy in their small sailboat as well as building and sailing model boats on local lakes and ponds.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother in 2001 and is survived by daughters Mandy and Melissa both of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, Don and father, Ted and loving wife Sandy all of Grants Pass; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and two on the way.
