Douglas Kent Beck

Douglas Kent Beck, age 83, of Merlin, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Doug was born October 16, 1932 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. In 1943 he moved to Grants Pass. In 1950 he graduated from Grants Pass High School and in 1959 he earned his degree from Oregon State University. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. On December 27, 1958 he married Bernie Martin.

He served on the Rural Planning Commission for Josephine County for ten years and the Jackson/Josephine Regional Investment Board for one term.

Douglas enjoyed their kids and cats, amateur radio and computers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernadette “Bernie” Beck; a son, Kent Lyndon Beck and daughter-in-law, Cindee Andres and grandchildren, Bethany, Lincoln, Lindsey, Forrest and Joelle Andres-Beck.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynnel Ravon Beck.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Gateway Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4335 Williams Highway, Grants Pass, Oregon. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
